Carson Gardens subdivision, located on one of the most beautiful spots in the City of Tecumseh, was platted in 1956 to take advantage of spectacular views and recreational enjoyment of Globe Mill Pond. The Hayden-Ford Mill (as in Henry Ford) has since been transformed into a community center, fitness center, J Trees Cellars Tasting Room (wines and ciders), and the Tecumseh Paddle Company. Tecumseh Paddle Company rents standup paddleboards, canoes, row boats and kayaks and offers trips on the River Raisin. The grounds around the mill are now a public park with tennis courts, basketball hoops and other amenities. Immediately east is Indian Trails Crossing, an inspiring, minimally-enhanced path into the woods and small streams where Native American peoples used to gather. If this sounds like a pitch for tourism, imagine how much you could enjoy living near the water, the community and fitness center, and trails. At a moments notice, you could take a one-hour or all-day escape.
