Today, the original Manitou Beach plat of 1888 still has the feel of a small lakeside village with commercial businesses and some residences along the south shore of Devils Lake at Devil’s Lake Hwy., and a pleasant, wooded neighborhood that runs several blocks south from the waterfront. The U.S. Census now classifies Manitou Beach-Devils Lake-Round Lake as a Census Designated Place (“CDP”). Addison Community Schools is the resident school district. While Michigan is a "School of Choice" state, participation in choice programs is optional for districts.
