The South Central Neighborhood is east of S. Meridian Hwy. (US-127) and west of Bean Creek, between W. Main St. (M-34) on the north and Division St. on the south. The map associated with this neighborhood description includes a few properties just outside the city limits in Hudson Twp. South Central is a spectacular neighborhood with nice homes and grand homes from centennial to mid-20th century traditional and some newer. Some late 19th- and early 20th-century homes have special features like hardwood floors, original wood trim and built-ins (dining room, kitchen, living room, staircases, etc.), front/side/or back porches, and beautiful fireplaces. Most have fully updated mechanicals and newer appliances. South Central includes Thompson Memorial Park, the William G. Thompson House and Gardens, Sacred Heart Catholic Church (an architectural treasure), and the Hudson Bowling Lanes. With peaceful tree-lined streets, this neighborhood has a wonderful feel. Downtown is walkable (for many, especially in the north half). North/south streets include: S. Meridian Hwy. (US-127), Oak, Grove, Howard, S. Church, S. Market, St. Giles, Cobb and Aldrich. East/west streets are: W. Main (M-34), Fayette, Seward, Lafayette, Washington, Pleasant, Summit, Maple, Center and Division.

Hudson is home to the Southern Michigan Center for Science & Industry, a unique skilled trades and technology training center. In addition, Sacred Heart School is the only Catholic elementary school in the region.
