Wolf Lake (69 water acres), Allen Lake (63 acres) and Meadow Lake (26 acres) are close together just south of US-12, east of Onsted Hwy. and west of Killarney Hwy. in Cambridge Twp. They are part of a chain of lakes in the heart of The Irish Hills, including nearby Washington Lake (40 acres) and Marrs Lake (29 acres), among others.
Wolf Lake is an all-sports lake approximately 35-feet deep at its lowest points. For its size, Wolf Lake has a significant number of cottages and homes built nearly all the way around, but generally set well-back from the waterfront or off the lake. For example, on the north side most properties are located on US-12 with deep lots that reach the lake. Setbacks give the lake a more natural feel. There is a cluster of residential properties south of Wolf Lake, wedged between all 3 lakes. Subdivisions include: Basswood Terrace; Siam (plats off both Onsted Hwy. and Lakeview Dr.), and the now-vanished “Town of Siam,” which was platted in 1836 for over 100 residences, more than a dozen streets and a public square - all packed-in between Wolf Lake and Allen Lake. On the Town of Siam plat, Wolf and Allen lakes were named “The Siamese Lakes” and Meadow Lake was called Mickles Lake. There doesn’t seem to be a trace of this town today, if it was ever developed.

Allen Lake has a reported maximum depth of 45-ft. The east side, along Killarney Hwy., has cottages or homes. There is little development beyond this. This is a public lake (important if you live off the lake or on another lake). The public access site includes a hard surface ramp, toilets and parking for 15 cars on the north side of the lake, just off US-12.

Meadow Lake is said to have depths of up to 25-ft. There are about a dozen homes or cottages along Edwin Markham Rd., off Killarney Hwy. near the northeast corner of the lake. There is not housing beyond that.

Onsted Community Schools is the resident school district. While Michigan is a "School of Choice" state, participation in choice programs is optional for districts.
